What about dads?
When i was in 200 level, my mom called us(myself and my sister), reprimanding us for not calling to wish her Happy Mothers' day. It was surprising because i was sure we had celebrated Mothers'day a few months back. As anyone noticed we celebrate like 4 different Mothers' day?
But what about Fathers' day? Do you know what date it is? Even when through the influence of social media we become aware of the celebration, how many of us actually call our fathers and celebrate with them?
If you follow social media, check up statuses and even some songs; we find a lot of tributes to mothers. From Sweet mother to Ishe by Lil kesh; to the ones who work hard to give their mothers the life they deserve; to the ones whose drive for success is that their mom aint gotta worry bout how to pay rent; mothers are always celebrated.
Why why why is so much emphasis placed on mothers? What about our fathers?
I can't say i know for sure but one thing is, a mother is almost always the most present being, most consistent parent...
She's the one who births the child and caters for him/her for as long as the child permitts...
The selfless love...
If you doubt it; eavesdrop on your mother's prayer and see how much goes for the family and how little for herself...
A mother knows the child's friends, his teachers; she remembers the birthdays and the parties and all those silly things that go with raising a child...
And most importantly, she is the one who usually stays back when the man occasionally strays...
But what does the father do? Work his ass off to provide for his family...
What's wrong with that?
Absolutely nothing...
It's actually a pretty noble thing to do BUTTTT!!!(not the butt u r thinkin)...
A lot of fathers miss out on their kids lives...
Maybe society has agreed that's the role the man should play but i'm telling you...
Unless you want to be 65 or 70 and forcing your kids to huddle around you; sit up...
Don't be that guy!!!
The one who works hard and doesn't know his kids...
Your kids aren't gonna care that you're working; all they're gonna notice is your absence...
Believe me you don't want to do that; it stings in the end.
Be the dad who holds his baby in the labour room.
Be the dad that gets up to carry the crying child...
Be the dad that holds your kids' hands on their 1st day at school..
Remember the birthdays, know their favourite colours, pay attention to what matters to them...
Be present!!!
Be the dad that gets a sincere, hearty, willing Happy Fathers' day greeting from his kids...
