What Separates Us
I remember a time my pastor announced after a meeting that He would soon be transferred to another state, and that his work in that branch was almost done.
I said to myself that I had to be close to Him, for he had been such a blessing. I told him about my plan and we agreed to have a Meet.
On that day, I wore my favourite Shirt and bought him my best T.V Series "Modern Family".
He tried his very best not to preach to me
well,being a Pastor, He couldn't keep up.
Of all the preaching that day, one stuck to me.
He said , Jonathan, I'm a man like you, I feel all that you feel, have all of your urges but the difference between us is that I am more mature spiritually.
Spiritual Maturity connotes one thing, Growth; growth in God.
My pastor meant the gulf in our growth in God is the reason he overcomes his temptations and I flub.
Are you like me? Do you fail time and time again in doing what's right? Do you think it's tough to be a true Christian?
Or Do you know better, are you living the life of Growth and Joy in Christ?
Whatever Growth curve you may belong to, there's a message.
My Pastor once said that being a Christian is a seemingly precarious situation ; the higher you go, the colder it gets. It's the thing about success, even in spiritual things; it comes with more foes.
The Devil doesn't want you to be a Christian, that's totally the very opposite of what he wants.
That makes you important to both the Devil and God. The Devil will throw all schemes your way just to see you fail.
The message is this.
For those who are struggling with their Faith? There's Hope.
There's Hope in God's love and Patience.
God knows it's tough that's why he's patient and still cares for us but God also knows that there's no temptation he hasn't made us able to overcome. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
So as much as you wallow in your weaknesses, remember there's strength in God to overcome all.
For those keeping it strong in the Faith?
Don't stop
And most importantly don't feel safe enough. Don't tone down on any spiritual activity instead increase in them.
Never allow yourself to be Infected with the "God will understand " syndrome.
Always push to be better in the Lord
So that at the end, all our efforts won't be in vain.
