Did He beat you?

There are Boys who beat their girlfriends, we know them, we are sometimes friends with them and other times we are the very boys. There are so many "why's" to boys beating their girlfriends or even husband beating wives. I get that it's tougher for wives to speak out, you wouldn't want people to  label your marriage a failure or you keep it in for the sake of the kids or whatever reason there is, but for a meagre relationship? Why?
There are blames to throw around for the beater and the "beatee". Why does a guy beat his girlfriend?
Well, there's nature and there's nuture. But before I say more, none of these reasons stand to be an excuse but science says growing up watching your mom get beat up often increased your chances to be a beater while other boys are just born hot-headed.
In Africa, and any other part of the world populated with idiots, there's the belief that once you have a girlfriend  whom you  spend some considerable amount of money, you're entitled to some "rights". The right to free sex and to beat the shit out of her when the need be. Some boys prefer lesser evils as shouting at her but at the end, abuse is abuse. Telling men that women are born equal to them doesn't just sink in , never does. There's no need going there but to the girls....the question remains
Why be In  an abusive relationship?

Here's one reply from a girl

"Now I think when a man gives a woman love, money nd takes care of her needs, But yet abuses her
It's difficult to report for reasons including:
Her source of money would go
She loves him too much to want to tarnish his reputation
Love could be subdueing"
I'm not quite sure but I think this reason goes for a majority of women
And then there's the minority that feel they should be beaten when they misbehave...
yes they are actual women who think this way.
I accept that people are stronger than others but let this words sink in
"Love yourself more than anything, more than money, more than the love of a man, more than the clothes, bags and "what-have-you".
