Slave, Slavery and Masters

How much do we really know about the the transatlantic slave trade? the number that were taken away, died and the ill treatment that they faced? So granted, in our every day lives there's an apparent apathy  toward slavery matters but at the same time Internet fraudsters now site slavery as reason for their nefarious activities. They say they are making the white man pay. Isn't that plain hypocrisy?
Who is really to pay for the evils of the slave trade?

I've tried to point out to people in the past that the word trade means buying and selling. Granted the white man forcefully enslaved people but on extremely few occasions, mostly they got these slaves in exchange for a fee.
Yeah our own people were sold by us. By greedy, powerful African individuals especially our traditional rulers. Blinded by greed, traditional rulers purposely waged war with other city States to get slaves for sale to the Europeans for immediate material benefits without thinking of or probably not caring the long term effects loss of human capital would have on our development as a race.
So, coupled with the fact that the slaves were now "legally" a property of the Europeans as they were purchases as mere commodities, the Europeans also had to watch a race of people brutally mistreat their fellow man, what do you think they would be inclined to do?
hmmm...

We come back to our question again. If you want to make them pay, who should really pay? In my own opinion the heads of those traditional rulers should be rolling now for their greed and stupidity but they're all dead now and it'll be inhumane to carry out this sentence on their children and therefore it is even more inhumane to carry out a sentence on the children  of European slavers.

The slave trade has happened, we cannot turn back the time, we cannot bring back millions of ours who were taken away.
But we are a new generation and our future lies in our hands. Are we going to let the greed and stupidity of our forefathers determine our future?
We shouldn't. We must condemn their greed, we shouldn't make the same mistake of letting greed drive us into making wealth from nonsustainable sources. Instead let us develop love. Love for ourselves and for neighbour, love for our cultural heritage, love for our country and for the whole wide world.
Let us be hardworking, and bravely take control of our own destinies.
